The Encryption service (EncryptionService)
lets you encrypt and decrypt documents. When a document is encrypted,
its contents become unreadable. An authorized user can decrypt the
document to obtain access to the contents. If a PDF document is
encrypted with a password, the user must specify the open password
before the document can be viewed in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
Likewise, if a PDF document is encrypted with a certificate, the
user must decrypt the PDF document with the public key that corresponds
to the certificate (private key) that was used to encrypt the PDF
document.
The following settings are available for the Encryption service.
For details on how to configure these settings, see Configure service settings.
- Default LDAP Server to connect to:
- Host name of the LDAP server used to retrieve certificates
for document encryption.
- Default LDAP Port to connect to:
- Port number of the LDAP server.
- Default LDAP User Name:
- If the LDAP server requires authentication, specify the user
name to be used to connect to the LDAP server.
- Default LDAP Password:
- If the LDAP server requires authentication, specify the password
that corresponds with the user name to be used to connect to the LDAP
server.
Note: Use simple authentication (user name
and password) only when the connection is protected via SSL (using
LDAPS).
